Warts on the fingers
Warts on the fingers

I suffer with warts on my fingers and have tried all kinds of cures including freezing under anaesthetic and cauterizing. As an asthmatic, I take steroids. Any alternative suggestions?

Although most warts are painless and harmless, they are unsightly and highly contagious so not surprisingly, most people will go to great lengths to get rid of them. Fortunately, there are several natural remedies you can try including the bizarre banana remedy. The healing mucilage found inside banana peel has been shown to help warts disappear. To try this, tape the inside peel on the wart and leave it on overnight. Do this every evening until the wart has gone.

The ancient Greeks valued oregano for its potent antiseptic properties and today, oregano oil is often used to treat a range of skin complaints, including warts. The key with this remedy is to ensure you are using the real thing and not, which often happens, marjoram that has been passed off as oregano. Products derived from true oregano are from a plant called Origanum vulgare so make sure this is the active ingredient you are using. Place a few drops of the oil on a clean, cotton swab and gently dab the affected area. Do this every day until the wart disappears.
