Scabies - Natural remedies

Can you suggest any natural remedies to help treat scabies?

The scabies mite is a tiny, crab-like parasite that lives just under the surface of human skin where it produces a characteristic eruption of very fine, slightly raised and crooked lines of between 1 and 2cm in length. This activity causes intense itching which, if you scratch, can then lead to infection, sores, and crusting. Itching is always worse at night when the mite is most active.

You will need to boost your immune system by stepping up your intake of zinc. Foods that are a good natural source include sesame seeds - so use tahini as a sandwich spread; turkey, egg yolks, fish, and whole grain breads. Take a supplement of 30mg a day.

Treat affected areas with tea tree oil, which is five times stronger than any household detergent, yet completely safe to use on the skin. Use the oil undiluted, twice a day. The over-the-counter homeopathic remedy for this condition is Sulphur 30c. Give one pillule every 12 hours to everyone in your household for up to three days.

The worst affected areas are always those body parts where the skin is soft, including the wrists, armpits, genitals, buttocks, and between the fingers and toes. Since scabies can be transferred through clothing and bed linen, prevent re-infection by washing and tumble drying all items that could possibly be infected at high temperatures.
