Robert Gray Intestinal Cleansing Program
Years ago, I did the so-called Robert Gray Intestinal Cleansing Program with very good results - my energy doubled, my skin cleared and I slept much better. I had originally bought the product in the States and was then told it was also available in the UK but I have had no luck finding it. Can you help?
I have tracked down the company that has sole distribution rights in the UK for this program which, as the name suggests, is designed to cleanse the digestive system. It took nine years to develop and performs a similar function to colonic irrigation without, what it for many, the embarrassment of pipes, warm water and a therapist in the room. It also, to my mind, beats fasting or an enema.
The late Robert Gray was an American nutritionist and herbalist who developed his cleansing program in the 1980s. He died in a car crash but has many followers among health practitioners both sides of the Atlantic today. One is the German naturopath, Herman Keppler, founder of the Colleges of Naturopathy and Complementary Medicine in London, Manchester, Belfast and Dublin. He was first introduced to the Cleansing Program by a patient and then decided to make it available in the UK because there was, he says, no question that it worked to enhance whole health.
The theory is that many of the foods that are common in the modern diet form a mucoid or slimy substance which then lines and narrows the intestinal tract. Not only does this cause a stagnation, it can also block the passage of other matter, inhibit the full absorption of nutrients and serve as a breeding ground for parasites and harmful bacteria.
The result, according to naturopaths, is the slow poisoning of the blood and lymphatic system which is a huge drain on your natural vitality. You will not be acutely sick but neither will you feel full of beans. You will simply get used to functioning below par.
The herbs, including psyllium husks, and the probiotic bacteria included in this program work with the body to remove this accumulated waste matter and to rebuild levels of the good bacteria which help keep digestion healthy. Another welcome benefit - and this is the one that has made this program such a hit with many TV celebrities - is that when the colon is cleansed, any bloating of the stomach completely disappears!
