Removing mucous
My wife cannot take conventional antibiotics because of a range of side-effects. She is also allergic to garlic. Is there anything alternative that will do the same job - remove mucous from the body - without causing a reaction?
One of the problems of the average Western diet is that it is high in mucous-forming protein and dairy foods. Excess mucous causes problems in the gut when it first lines and then sticks to the inside of the digestive tract. Over the years, it begins to solidify and will eventually narrow the passage through which food must pass, thus slowing down the peristaltic or wave-like action of the gut which works to push food through the colon.
One of the best ways of shifting this mucoid lining, which will also block the absorption of other nutrients, is to use the Robert Gray Cleansing Programme which I have heard described as “colonic irrigation” in a bottle.
It is a herbal cleanse that includes psyllium husks to remove impacted waste and mucous and a probiotic supplement to re-build levels of the good gut bacteria that keep the more toxic ones under control. One welcome side-effect of this programme is that by allowing the colon to return to its normal size, it also reduces stomach bloating.
To prepare for this cleanse - which can last for one, two or three months - your wife needs to reduce the amount of wheat and dairy in her diet and cut out stimulants such as tea, coffee and alcohol.
*The UK distributor of the Robert Gray Cleansing Programme is a company called Best Care Products (01342-410303). The 3-month programme costs £139.95; two months costs £74.95 and one month is £52.95. You can order a handbook which describes the background to the programme and which costs £6.25 plus £1 p&p, from the same company.
