PMT cramping at night
On your advice, I have been taking Meno herb combined with Woman essence to relieve pre-menstrual problems. I am thrilled to report I feel so much better and suffer from no PMT symptoms at all. What I do still get are bad cramping pains at night. Is there anything else I can take?
I have had lots of letters from women who, like you, report a dramatic improvement in both perimenopausal and PMT symptoms by linking these two remedies. For anyone who missed this advice, Meno-Herb is an impressive combination of natural plant oestrogens from red clover, dong quai, and black cohosh, plus wild yam (for natural progesterone), raspberry leaf, squaw vine, and nettles. Woman Essence, which you take at the same time, is one of the powerful Australian Bush Essence combinations now on sale in this country. A tincture, it includes She Oak - which works to help regulate the ovaries.
To help alleviate the cramping pains, you can take Evening Primrose oil. This is a rich source of Gamma-Linoleic Acid (GLA); an anti-inflammatory prostaglandin that will counter the inflammatory hormones causing pain. Take a supplement that provides the equivalent of 250mg a day. You may also find relief if you use Niacin, which triggers a dilation of the blood vessels to improve blood flow to the contracting uterus. Finally, for natural pain relief, I use a less well known herb called Boswellia serrata - which also has an anti-inflammatory action.
*Meno-herb costs £17.95 for 90 tablets is only available from Victoria Health on 0800-413596. Take two a day for maintenance, but when symptoms are acute, increase this dosage to 3 x 2 tablets a day. Woman essence costs £7.95 for 30ml and is available from Ancient Roots (0208-421 9877). Solgar's Boswellia serrata costs £14.75 for 60 veggie capsules. For local stockists, call 01442-890355. Remember you need to give herbal remedies at least a month, preferably three months, to really take effect.
