Persistent respiratory problems
I have been suffering from respiratory problems for around 12 months - these include a sore throat, hoarse voice and deep-seated cough - all of which leave me feeling exhausted. I am now waiting for a chest X-ray although my doctor seems to think I am simply prone to viral infections. Is there anything I could take to relieve these symptoms?
The new Neal’s Yard Remedies Plant Therapy range includes a number of natural remedies formulated specifically to tackle respiratory disorders, including sore throats and stubborn coughs.
For your sore throat, you need to use the new Echinacea and mallow syrup - which also contains honey and aniseed and is suitable for children, as well as adults. It costs £4.50 for 100ml and you will need to use it every day to soothe your throat.
I also recommend trying the new Clear Lung Tea; a blend of expectorant herbs including sage and elderflower formulated to tackle persistent coughs. Again, at just £2.95 for 50g, this is not only effective but excellent value.
You may also want to use the new eucalyptus salve (£6.95 for 45g) which is a decongestant blend of herbs that you simply massage over the upper chest to try and shift that cough.
