Natural toothpaste
I have been looking for a natural toothpaste, but cannot find anything I like the flavour of. What do you use?
I have tussled with my “mean gene” (i.e. the one that does not want to tell the world about some of my all-time best remedies in case the suppliers run out of stock) but have decided to be generous and reveal all.
Firstly, I use a German toothpaste that was developed to help stop mercury vapour seeping from dental amalgam fillings as a result of the brushing action of cleaning your teeth. Even though I had my amalgam fillings replaced years ago, I like the taste of this toothpaste and so have stuck with it for several years now. It is called Original Tuebinger Toothpaste, costs £6 for 75ml and is available from the Nutri Centre (0800 587 2290).
I also use a herbal powder called Dental Miracle (available from Victoria Health; 0800 413596 where a 9g pot, which will last several months, costs £17.99) which is beyond brilliant. It contains both peppermint and orris root, both of which have a long tradition of use as breath fresheners. Orris root can also be used to help relieve toothache.
To use this amazing powder, apply your normal toothpaste and then dip your toothbrush in the jar. You do not need to use any water. It tastes delicious and will give you Hollywood Teeth after just a few applications, without the fag of a series of visits to the oral hygienist.
