Genital Warts and Coriolus
Genital Warts and Coriolus

My boyfriend and I both have genital warts and so I’ve now spent many embarrassing hours at the local hospital’s Genito Urinary (GU) clinic. We are both clear right now but is there something we could take so we don’t have to go through that horrible experience again?

Controlled clinical trials are currently underway in London testing the efficacy of a natural treatment combining folic acid with a little-known Asian mushroom supplement called Coriolus versicolor. As ever with such trials, it follows highly encouraging preliminary findings which suggest the combination of these two remedies will work to trigger the body’s own immune system to eradicate the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) which is responsible for a range of conditions; from cervical cancer to warts, both genital and the everyday ones people get elsewhere on the body.

Do not panic and assume now that because you have genital warts you will also develop cervical cancer. There are around 100 strains of HPV and the one responsible for the warts you have is not the same as the one that causes cancerous changes to the cells of the cervix or the fairly innocuous strain that causes warts on the hands.

The good news is that if Coriolus can wipe out the more virulent strains that do cause cervical cancer, it should also be able to wipe out the less harmful ones you and your boyfriend are dealing with. It is now available here in supplement form. 90 x 500mg tablets cost £18.95. In preliminary trials, researchers used six tablets a day for the first 15 days and then cut back to three tablets a day, all taken with food. To mail order, call 01273-558112.
