Fibroids in womb lining
Fibroids in womb lining

I have been diagnosed with multiple, large fibroids in the lining of my womb which are now causing me problems. My GP says a hysterectomy is the only realistic option but I want to know about alternative remedies that could help shrink them?

Fibroids, which occur in around 20% of women over the age of 30, are the most common form of slow-growing and benign tumours. They are the result of an abnormal response to the sex hormone, oestrogen and while half of the women who have them have no symptoms at all, for others, severe PMT, low blood-sugar levels, painful periods, fertility problems and bleeding between periods are all common.

In most cases, fibroids shrink after the menopause but if you have not reached that stage, a combination of the amino acid L-arginine (500mg on an empty stomach) together with 50mg of vitamin B6 daily and up to 10g of vitamin C can help retard their growth. Vitamin A (25,000 IUs daily) is also helpful since it works to restore the body’s connective tissue to normal functioning. All these supplements are now widely on sale in good health stores.
