Dry vaginal condition
Can you suggest anything to make life a little more worth living? I have suffered with a dry vaginal condition for more than 20 years. I have coped by using gels but intercourse is very painful and nothing really seems to help.
When a group of women suffering similar problems were given a treatment plan which increased the amount of soya in their diet and which supplemented their intake of linseed oil and red clover, doctors reporting their results in the British Medical Journal noticed that the vaginal tissues changed, for the better, in just 10 weeks.
Dr Marilyn Glenville, a nutritional therapist and specialist in women’s health has suggested a similar programme for you. The linseed oil is an important source of essential fatty acids which lubricate the skin, joints and vaginal tissues. You can also get them from nuts, seeds and oily fish too, but because your problem has persisted for so long, you are going to need supplementation.
Vitamin E will also help. Dr Glenville suggests you take 300iu (international units) daily. You can even insert the capsules into the vagina where the body heat will melt the outer casing allowing the nutrient to act where it is needed. If you do this, make sure you use a yeast-free preparation.
You need to be eating more the plant phytoestrogens which have been found to help rebalance hormones in both sexes. GM-free organic soya is an excellent source and you can supplement your diet with an American product called Pro-Estron which contains soy, the hormone-balancing herb agnus castus and the herb dong quai which rehydrates the vaginal tissues. In addition, you will also to need to take red clover in tincture form.
*To mail order Pro-Estron, which costs £22.95 for 60 caplets, plus £1 p&p, call 0990-329244. Farmacia (0171-831 0830) sells an organic red clover tincture which costs £6.95 for 100ml, add £1.50 p&p.
