Chronic pustular psoriasis

My brother has a recurring and painful skin condition called chronic pustular psoriasis, which seems to defy effective treatment. Have you any advice that might help prevent further eruptions?

An underlying liver or gallbladder problem is the most likely explanation for the persistence of your brother’s condition according to Jane Waters, co-founder of The Alternative Centre in London which specialises in the holistic treatment of skin disorders, especially psoriasis and eczema.

He needs to increase his dietary intake of betacarotenes by eating more orange and yellow fruits and vegetables. This then converts in the body to vitamin A, which is important for healthy skin. He should also, says Waters, eat more bitter foods such as artichoke, chicory, dandelion leaves and radicchio lettuce. For cleansing, he needs to eat linseeds and oats and to drink plenty of fluids.

Soaking the hands and feet in a mixture of Dead Sea mineral salts and myrrh essential oil will also help the healing process. If the skin is too cracked and sore for salts, use a solution of tea tree oil instead which is also an excellent antibacterial. Use this with myrrh or lavender oils.
