Cetyl Myristoleate
Cetyl Myristoleate

I have just come across some information on the internet about a supplement called Cetyl Myristoleate (CM), which is now available in the form of Cetyl Mobility capsules. It is said to have fantastic results with arthritis. Do you know anything about it and is it available in the UK?

There is good empirical evidence for this new supplement from arthritis sufferers but no double-blind clinical trials to date. It was discovered in the 1970s by Harry Diehl, a researcher at the National Institute of Arthritis, Metabolic and Digestive diseases. He noticed, during animal experiments, that one breed of mouse, the Swiss Albino, did not get arthritis when it was exposed to factors which caused the disease in every other breed.

Figuring the Swiss albino must have some an in-built, anti-arthritis factor, he finally found it - cetyl myristoleate which is a fatty acid found in nuts, vegetables and butter. These mice, he discovered, had unusually high levels of this non toxic substance which he then gave to family and friends who were suffering from arthritis to try. In 1991, he developed a commercial brand which has been well received although, as with every other form of relief for arthritis, it will not work for everyone.
