Allergy suffers have much distress to work though. One out of every twelve Americans suffer some form of allergies. Basically what allergies consist of are a bunch of symptoms that cause an immune response, although they symptoms need no response to work through the body. So when the symptoms attack the body, the natural response should be to let them work through the body, and not make antibodies to fight it off. When that occurs, people have allergies.
Some of the common causes of allergies would be they hypersensitive of the immune system. It fights off what is not needed to be fought off. The immune system typically responds to harmless interventions within the body. Symptoms of allergies can be prevented by avoiding known allergens. Such allergens are mold, dust, pollen, and some can even be related to food products or hygiene products.
The common symptoms of allergies would include things such as itching, all over the body or it could be in one specific region of the body. Swelling of the face, wrists, ankles, or fingers is another reaction to allergens. Muscle spasms could occur as well has hives or rashes to the skin. A runny nose, coughing, or wheezing is due to allergens that are inhaled or breathed in for a long period of time. Symptoms could also be headaches, skin redness, and vomiting.
Treatment for allergies is usually to avoid the allergens, but for those who are allergic to pollen or dust or something that is around all year long, certain medications can be given. Antihistamines are usually taken over the counter, although some can be prescribed by a doctor. Forms of antihistamines come in a nose spray or a pill most commonly. There are side effects to these medications, which is usually being very sleepy. Grogginess could also occur. While taking these medications, one should never drink, it would inhance the side effects.
